For the third straight week, the UCLA men's tennis team earned a No. 1 national ranking in the WingspanBank.com Collegiate Tennis Rankings, the Intercollegiate Tennis Association released Wednesday.
The tenth weekly ranking of the season is the fourth ranking where the ITA's point-per-match computer formula was used. The average is determined by figuring in a team's best wins and all losses.
With a 48.71 point-per-match average and a 16-2 overall record, the Bruins are over 1-point ahead of No. 2 Florida. The top-ranked Bruins picked up wins over then-No. 19 USC and UC Santa Barbara last week and have not lost a match since February 27.
UCLA returns to action this Friday in a crucial match against No. 4 Stanford. Friday's match will be the second of three meetings between the two schools. On February 27, then-No. 2 Stanford defeated then-No. 7 UCLA 4-3 in the finals of the National Team Indoors, which was held in Louisville, Kentucky. The third and final meeting between the schools is scheduled for April 22 on the UCLA campus.
