Seattle, WA - At the Pac-10 Indoor Invite, at Washington's Dempsey Indoor Stadium, Chelsea Johnson was the key Bruin performer of the meet. Johnson won the pole vault with a personal best height of 14-8 (4.47m). By clearing the height, Johnson set a new school record, breaking the previous record of 14-7.25 set by former Bruin great and collegiate records-holder Tracy O'Hara in 2000. Johnson also broke the Dempsey facility record of 14-3.50 (4.36m) set by O'Hara in 2003.
Johnson was one of three Bruin event winners. Jessica Cosby won the shot put with a season best performance of 53-8.25 (16.36m). It is a NCAA provisional qualifying mark. Senior Cari Soong continued her winning streak at Dempsey Stadium, winning the weight throw with a NCAA Automatic qualifying mark of 67-0.75 (20.44m). And, the distance medley relay of Alejandra Barrientos, Jenna Timinsky, Ashley Caldwell and Lena Nilsson won in a NCAA Automatic time of 11:10.98.
The Bruins will compete at the MPSF Indoor Championships Friday and Saturday, February 27-28. The meet will be held at Dempsey Indoor Stadium.
