Bruins Tie for Fifth Place at NCAA Championships

The 10th ranked UCLA women's golf team tied for fifth place at the NCAA Championships, hosted by Purdue University at the Kampen Course in West Lafayette, IN.

The Bruins posted a team score on Friday of 292, four-over par, and finished with a 72-hole total of 1,216, 64-over par. They tied with Oklahoma State, which posted a final round team score of 304, 16-over par. USC won the national championship by 15 shots over Pepperdine. The Trojans finished at 1,197 and the Waves followed at 1,212. Texas took third place at 1,213, followed by Ohio State at 1,214. Arizona, which carded the best team score of the day at 290, finished sixth at 1,217.

Individually for the Bruins, junior Hana Kim tied for 11th place at 301 after posting a final round score of one-over par 73. Sophomore Charlotte Mayorkas tied for 17th at 302 after carding her second straight even par round of 72. Freshman Susie Mathews tied for 28th at 305 after a final round 77. Junior Gina Umeck posted UCLA's best score of the tournament, a final round one-under par 71. She tied for 71st place at 313. Junior Melissa Martin fired a final round 76 and tied for 71st place at 317.

Florida's Andrea Vander Lende and USC's Mikaela Parmlid tied for first place at 297, nine-over par. Both players posted final rounds of 77. Arizona's Erica Blasberg and USC's Irene Cho tied for third at 10-over par 298.
