LOS ANGELES, Calif. -- UCLA senior two-meter Sean Kern (Honolulu, HI) has been named the Mikasa MPSF Player of the Week for October 10, 2000. He scored four goals in a 7-5 conference win over cross-town rival No. 3 USC to solidify the Bruins' No. 1 ranking and first-place in the MPSF. He was also named the uclabruins.com Student-Athlete of the Week.
It was Kern's first game back from Sydney where he was a member of the U.S. Olympic Men's Water Polo team. Kern scored three goals for the U.S. and helped the team to a sixth place finish.
Kern is the first Bruin to be honored by the MPSF this year. UCLA is currently ranked No. 1 and holds an 8-2 overall record. The Bruins will travel to the Bay Area this weekend to take on No. 2 Cal and No. 4 Stanford.
