LOS ANGELES - Cedric Bozeman gave UCLA the lead on a 3-pointer with 2.8 seconds remaining and the Bruins defeated Loyola Marymount 69-66 in overtime Saturday night.

UCLA (3-1) blew all of a 14-point lead in the second half, when the Lions closed with a 19-5 run over the final 2:39 to force overtime tied at 60.

There were two ties in the five-minute extra session, the last at 66 when Chris Ayer hit a turnaround jumper for the Lions with 39 seconds left.

On UCLA's ensuing possession, Bozeman passed to freshman Trevor Ariza, who bobbled the ball but managed to kick it out to Bozeman for the game-winning shot.

Bozeman led the Bruins with 16 points and 10 rebounds. Dijon Thompson added 15 points and Ariza 14 points in his season debut.

Ariza missed the first three games after suffering a collapsed lung. He wasn't expected to return until next Wednesday against UC Santa Barbara, but he was medically cleared to play limited minutes. He also had seven rebounds in 32 minutes.

Charles Brown led Loyola Marymount with 17 points. Sherman Gay and Damian Martin added 13 points.

UCLA saw its 14-point lead shrink to three with 41 seconds left when Gay scored for the Lions (5-2).

Ariza launched a court-length pass to Brian Morrison, who couldn't control it. Morrison tried tipping the ball to Ryan Hollins as he fell out of bounds, but the Bruins turned it over. Brown raced downcourt and hit a 3-pointer to tie the game at 60 with 30 seconds left.

Bozeman dribbled nearly 20 seconds off the clock before trying to dish off in traffic. Hollins couldn't control the ball and the Lions gained possession. Bozeman stole the inbounds pass and fed Hollins, who tried dunking but didn't beat the buzzer and overtime ensued.

The Lions took their first lead of the game in overtime, scoring the first two baskets. Thompson made two free throws and Bozeman scored on a layin to tie it with 1:46 left.

Thompson's two free throws put UCLA ahead 66-64 in overtime before Ayer tied it for the last time. Thompson was 11-of-12 from the line, including four in overtime.

The Bruins were plagued by poor shooting for the second straight game. They hit 34 percent in a two-point loss to Kentucky a week ago, and 31 percent against the Lions. UCLA also committed 21 turnovers, nine by Thompson, to 17 for the Lions.

UCLA dominated the boards, 54-37, including an 18-8 offensive edge.

Both teams failed to make a field goal in the game's first 5˝ minutes.

Ariza started the second half and earned his biggest cheers with two dunks. The first came on an alley-oop pass and the other was a one-handed jam that gave UCLA a 45-35 lead with 11:17 remaining.

The Lions lost 6-foot-6 John Haywood to his fifth foul with 9:50 left. Gay and Ayer also were in foul trouble over the final 10 minutes of regulation, and Gay fouled out in overtime.

UCLA starting center Michael Fey got poked in the left eye late in the first half and went to the hospital to be examined. He had six points and six rebounds in 14 minutes.

The Bruins lead the series 14-2, having won the last 11 in a row.
