The top-ranked UCLA women's golf team prepares to compete in the Mason Rudolph Championship, Sept. 23-25 at the Vanderbilt Legends Club in Franklin, TN.
Six teams ranked among the nation's Top 10, including top-ranked UCLA and No.2 Duke highlight the field.
One senior, one junior, a sophomore and two true freshmen make up the UCLA lineup this week.
"We are very excited to start our season at the Mason Rudolph Invitational," said Head Coach Carrie Forsyth. "It is a strong field and we are really looking forward to the tough competition. Our players have been working hard to prepare for the event and we feel very good about our chances of playing well and starting our season with a strong finish."
Two-time All-American Susie Mathews returns for her senior season, boasting a career scoring average of 73.8. Junior Hannah Jun, a 2004 All-American, also returns with one career victory and a 12th place finish at this event in 2003. Sophomore Amie Cochran earned Second-Team NGCA All-America honors last season and tied for third place at the 2005 NCAA Championship.
UCLA's two freshmen are Jane Park of Rancho Cucamonga, CA and Ryann O'Toole of San Clemente, CA. Park, one of the nation's top female amateurs, won the 2004 U.S. Women's Amateur Championship. O'Toole is a veteran junior player who advanced to the quarterfinals of the North and South Women's Amateur and to the third round of the U.S. Women's Amateur Championship this summer.
