Bruins Grab Second Place after 36 Holes in Pac-10 Championships

The UCLA women's golf team vaulted into second place Tuesday in the Pacific-10 Conference Women's Golf Championshps, hosted by Washington State at the Walla Walla Country Club.

The Bruins posted a team score of 299, the best of the day, and have a 36-hole total of 600. They trail first place Arizona by three shots and lead USC by five. Arizona State is fourth at 606, followed by California at 607.

UCLA freshman Yvonne Choe continued to surprise the field. On Tuesday, she posted an even par round of 72 for a two-day total of 143, one-under par. She is the tournament leader by two shots over No.1 ranked Lorena Ochoa of Arizona. USC's Mikaela Parmlid also is tied for second at 145 after carding a three-over par score of 74 in the second round.

Following are the scores of the remaining UCLA players. Sophomore Melissa Martin is tied for 12th at 152 after carding a three-over par score of 75. Freshman Charlotte Mayorkas is tied for 13th at 153. Senior Alicia Um is tied for 22nd at 155 and sophomore Gina Umeck is tied for 26th at 156.

Final round action continues Wednesday.
