Campbell wins Carson Daly Invitational

Freshman Peter Campbell won the Carson Daly Invitational and the UCLA Blue Team won the NCAA portion of the competition Tuesday. The event was hosted by Loyola Marymount University at Robinson Ranch Golf Club in Santa Clarita.

Campbell, who fired a first round, five-under par 66 on Monday, won by one stroke with a birdie on the final hole to beat Seth Cotter of The Master's College. His total of 209 was four-under par. The victory was his first in collegiate competition.

Freshman Joakim Renstrom tied for fifth place at 215. He played the final 36 holes in even par. Sophomore Breene Murphy tied for 11th at 218, and freshman Chris Heintz tied for 16th at 222.

The Bruins beat the NCAA teams in the tournament with a 54-hole score of 864, 12-over par. Indiana-Purdue University placed second with a score of 880, followed by Sacramento State at 892 and Loyola Marymount at 900.
