This Week . . .
The No. 29 UCLA women's tennis team travels up to the Bay Area for meetings with top-ranked Stanford on Friday and No. 12 Cal on Saturday. The Bruins enter the week 5-12 overall and 2-1 in Pac-10 play. Stanford remains the nation's only undefeated team at 17-0 and boasts the No. 1 player in the country in Laura Granville. Cal owns a record of 12-2 with losses to Washington and Stanford. UCLA leads the all-time series with Cal 23-19. The Bruins are 13-53 all-time against the Cardinal.

Last Week . . .
The Bruins went 1-2 in three matches last week. UCLA started the week strong with a 6-1 defeat of Loyola Marymount on Tuesday at the Los Angeles Tennis Center. On Friday, the Bruins dropped a 6-1 decision to No. 18 USC and on Sunday, fell to No. 17 Pepperdine, 4-3.

UCLA in the ITA Team and Individual Rankings . . .
As a team, UCLA checked in at No. 29 in the ITA rankings released last week. New team rankings will be released this Wednesday. Individual rankings were released on Mar. 23 and Sara Walker is ranked 13th in the country, followed by Petya Marinova at No. 75 and Catherine Hawley at No. 93. In doubles, Lauren Fisher and Marinova check in at No. 20.

Bruin Injury Update . . .
Sara Walker has missed the last two matches with a foot injury, however could possibly return to the lineup as soon as Friday. Zana Zlebnik, who played doubles against USC last week seeing her first action in over a month, is still sidelined with a back injury.

Marinova on a Roll . . .
Bruin junior Petya Marinova has been one of the hottest Bruins as of late, winning five of her last six singles matches en route to a No. 75 national ranking. This past Sunday against Pepperdine, Marinova pulled out a dramatic come-from-behind victory to defeat Charlotte Vernaz, 6-7(7), 6-3, 7-5. In doubles, Marinova and partner Lauren Fisher are ranked No. 20 nationally with an impressive 15-7 overall record.

Freshmen Fritz-Krockow, Fisher Hanging Tough . . .
In only their first season of collegiate tennis, Bruin freshmen Mariko Fritz-Krockow and Lauren Fisher have turned in solid performances. One of the top doubles players in the country, Fisher teams with junior Petya Marinova to form UCLA's No. 1 doubles team. The duo owns a 15-7 overall record and is currently ranked at No. 20 in the latest ITA rankings. Fritz-Krockow is currently on a three-match winning streak after going perfect in matches against LMU, USC and Pepperdine last week. She was the only Bruin to win a singles match against USC on Tuesday, defeating Tiffany Brymer, 2-6, 6-3, 6-2.
