UCLA Varsity Eight Selected To Compete At NCAA Championships
The UCLA Women's Rowing team's varsity eight received an at-large bid to attend the 2005 Division I NCAA Championships, which will take place May 27-29. The Championships will be hosted by California State University Sacramento. This is the first year during the Bruins four years as a varsity sport that they have been selected to compete at the NCAA Championships.

The NCAA Championships consist of 12 teams entering their varsity eight, second varsity eight and varsity four crews, as well as four varsity eight at-large bids given to schools who were not selected to attend as a team. UCLA earned an at-large bid based on its 5th-place finish at the Pac-10 championships last weekend, along with its strong regular-season performance.

The Bruins enter the championships as the 15th-ranked varsity eight in the country, according to the US Rowing /Collegiate Rowing Coaches Association Poll. The Bruins are joined by fellow Pac-10 members California, USC, Stanford and Washington in the field of 16 for the varsity eight.
