AUSTIN, Texas-- UCLA junior Chris Sands cruised past Michigan State's Francisco Trinidad 6-1, 6-4 Wednesday. With the second-round qualifying win, Sands advances to the main draw of the ITA Men's All-American Championships.
Sands will face No. 3 seed Francisco Rodriguez of Alabama in the first round of the main draw on Thursday, Oct. 14.
The main draw, which is loaded with some of the top collegiate men's tennis players, begins on Thursday, Oct. 14 and concludes on Monday, Oct. 18.
The 1999 Reebok/ITA All-American Championships is the second leg of the ITA Grand Slam and consists of 64-player singles and 32-team doubles main draw. The toughest hardcore event of the fall season, the ITA All-American Championships is the largest NCAA Division I tennis tournament in the country, with over 350 players competing in the two qualifyiing tournaments and the main draw.
