UCLA avenged their early season home loss to USC with a 7-3 victory over the Women of Troy in the semi-finals of the UCSB Invitational. With the victory the Bruins improved to 9-3 overall and advanced to the finals of the tournament to meet No. 1 Stanford. After opening the game with a 3-1 lead in the first quarter the Bruins would not allow USC to get any closer, holding the Women of Troy scoreless in the second quarter while taking a 4-1 lead. In the second half the Bruins would score three more goals to come away with the 7-3 victory and advance to the championship match.
Jessica Lopez led the Bruins with two goals, while Lauren Heineck, Maureen Flanagan, Katie Flanagan, Ashley Stachowski and Kristina Kunkel each scored once. For the Trojans Sofia Konouch scored twice and Mariah Van Norman once.
UCLA's game against No. 1 Stanford will be the teams third meeting of the season, with the Cardinal holding a 2-0 record against the Bruins this season.
