Bruins Claim Third Straight Pac-10 Title . . .
With its 4-3 victory over USC last Friday, UCLA claimed a share of its third straight Pac-10 title. As it stands right now, UCLA and Stanford are tied atop the conference standings with 6-1 records. There is still a possibility of a three-way tie, as Washington (5-1) and Cal (4-2) are scheduled to play a makeup match this Wednesday in Ojai. In terms of the NCAA automatic berth, UCLA owns the nod over Stanford, having beaten the Cardinal in the conference match between the two teams back on Apr. 7. If Washington beats Cal, resulting in a three-way tie for the conference title, the automatic berth will go to the highest-ranked school in the Fila/ITA Team Rankings released on May 1. UCLA has been co-champions in the Pac-10 the last two years, sharing the title with USC in 2004 and Washington in 2005.

UCLA in the Fila/ITA Rankings . . .
UCLA checks in at No. 9 in the latest Fila/ITA Rankings released on Tuesday. The Bruins moved down one spot despite a 4-3 victory over USC last Friday. Individual rankings were also released on Tuesday, and the Bruins have four players ranked in singles led by the nation's current No. 1 player Benjamin Kohlloeffel. He is followed by No. 67 Chris Surapol and No. 102 Mathieu Dehaine. Philipp Gruendler and Kohlloeffel are ranked No. 2 in doubles. New team and individual rankings will be released on May 1.

Gruendler/Kohlloeffel Break UCLA Doubles Record . . .
UCLA's No. 1 doubles team of Philipp Gruendler and Benjamin Kohlloeffel posted their 20th-straight dual-match victory together last Friday, breaking the team record for consecutive dual-match wins. Patrick Galbraith and Brian Garrow set the previous record of 19 back in 1989. Gruendler and Kohlloeffel saved four match points in their 9-8(6) win over USC's Jamil Al-Agba/Dejan Cvetkovic to set the record. They have been named this week's Pac-10 Players of the Week.

NCAA 64-Team Draw Announced on May 3 . . .

Head Coach Billy Martin . . .

He led UCLA to its first NCAA title in more than 20 years this past May, as the Bruins pulled off a 4-3 come-from-behind victory over Baylor in the 2005 NCAA final. As a player at UCLA in 1975, Martin captured the NCAA Singles Championship before going on to a very successful professional career.
