Connor Driscoll, a 2006 American Junior Golf Assn. All-American, has signed a National Letter of Intent to attend UCLA, the athletic department announced Thursday.
Driscoll, a senior at La Costa Canyon HS in Encinitas, Calif., currently is ranked 34th among U.S. junior players on the GolfWeek poll through Nov. 7. On the AJGA circuit this season, he recorded three Top 10 finishes in seven starts, plus two other Top 20 finishes. In October, he tied for fourth at the PING Invitational with scores of 75-71-70--216. In the current AJGA rankings, Driscoll is ranked 27th.
"Connor Driscoll will be a great addition to UCLA golf," said Head Coach O.D. Vincent. "He's just the type of student-athlete we want on our team -- an accomplished player and an extremely well-rounded student. From the moment Connor stepped on campus, he was very excited about [attending] UCLA."
In his last 20 junior tournaments, Driscoll recorded 18 Top 20 finishes, including 10 in the Top 5. He won the FCWT Teal Bend Classic in January with scores of 75-73-69--217 (+1). He was the runner-up in the 2006 California State Junior Amateur with scores of 72-68-73--213 (-3) and qualified for the 2005 U.S. Junior Amateur at Longmeadow CC.
"As a player, Connor has improved tremendously this past year," Vincent continued. "In every tournament, he has played better."
