The No. 2/No. 4 (Golfstat/Golfweek) ranked UCLA men's golf team played another solid round of golf and remained in second place after round two of the NCAA Championship.

The Bruins posted a second round score of 288 (E), giving them a total score of 574 (-2). The team currently trails leaders Georgia Tech by one stroke after the Yellow Jackets posted a second round 290 (+2) to give them an overall score of 573 (-3). Illinois finished the day in 3rd place at 578 (+2) while Georgia currently sits in 4th place at 579 (+3). Alabama rounded out the top five with a score of 580 (+4) while Oklahoma State is in 6th place at 585 (+9). Defending champions Augusta State currently sit in 7th place with an overall score of 588 (+12) while Texas A&M and Ohio State are tied for the 8th and final qualifying spot with a score of 590 (+14). The top eight finishers after Thursday's round will move on to a match play bracket beginning on Friday while the individual champion will be crowned after tomorrow's round.

"Again, we are pleased with how we played today," Head Coach Derek Freeman said. "The golf course is allowing good scores since there has been very little wind. We are going to go out and try to win the stroke play portion of this event. If we continue to make good smart decisions, we will have the opportunity."

Individually, freshman Patrick Cantlay shot the low round of the day for the Bruins, firing a second round 69 (-3) to give him an overall score of 141 (-3). Cantlay is currently tied for 3rd place going into the final round for individuals, just two shots back of the leader. Junior Gregor Main also had a good day for the Bruins, posting a second round 70 (-2) to give him an overall score of 142 (-2). He is currently only three strokes back of the leader and is sitting in a tie for 6th place. Sophomore Pedro Figueiredo posted a second round 74 (+2) to put him in a tie for 21st place at 145 (+1). Junior Alex Shi Yup Kim shot a 76 (+4) for his round to give him a total of 147 (+3), good for a tie for 36th place. Finally, sophomore Pontus Widegren recorded a second round 75 (+3) and is currently tied for 93rd place with an overall score of 154 (+10).

John Peterson of LSU is the leader after round two with a score of 139 (-5).
