LOS ANGELES - The No. 3 UCLA men's water polo team will host the UCLA Invitational at Spieker Aquatics Center on Saturday, Sept. 3. The Bruins will open their 2011 season with two regular-season matches and two exhibition contests.
Under the direction of third-year head coach Adam Wright, UCLA will open the one-day round-robin tournament with the invitational's first two matches. The Bruins will face Claremont-Mudd-Scripps at 8 a.m. in a regular-season match before taking on Pepperdine in an exhibition game at 9:15 a.m.
After five matches (one exhibition) between a field that includes Pomona-Pitzer, Pepperdine, La Verne, UC Santa Barbara and Claremont-Mudd-Scripps, the Bruins will continue their schedule with a 4:45 p.m. exhibition against UC Santa Barbara. The day concludes with a regular-season contest featuring UCLA and La Verne at 6 p.m.
Admission to games at the UCLA Invitational on Saturday is free. Fans are encouraged to park in Lot 11, slightly north of Spieker Aquatics Center at the intersection of De Neve Drive and Bellagio Drive. Parking costs $11 for the day.
