The UCLA divers will kickoff the 2006-07 season on Thursday and Friday as the team holds the annual Blue & Gold Intrasquad meet. Tower events will be held on Thursday at the Rose Bowl Aquatic Center, while 1M and 3M will be held at the Sunset Canyon Recreation Center on Friday at 12:00 pm.
"We have now had seven weeks of very good fundamental and drill work to prepare ourselves for the opportunities we have this weekend," said Dive Coach Tom Stebbins. "This is an informal practice event setting, in which we will begin to evaluate who our 1-6 spots will be in each event."
Sophomores Tess Schofield and Brittany Hill will compete on platform at the Rose Bowl on Thursday in the Blue/Gold tower event. They will then both compete on 1 meter springboard on Friday with the rest of the team (other than Morgan Erpenbeck, who had surgery on Tuesday and is redshirting this season).
The 1 Meter event is scheduled to begin around noon on Friday, with the 3 Meter event set to begin around 1 PM.
Morgan Erpenbeck Update
Erpenbeck, a freshman this year, had wrist surgery last week and is recovering well. The surgery was successful and her prognosis is very good for a complete recovery, which should take four to six months.
