SERIES vs. OREGON STATE
This is the 115th meeting between UCLA and Oregon State with the Bruins leading the series 81-33. UCLA is 34-24 all-time in Corvallis, Ore. UCLA has won the last five meetings, including sweeping the season series a year ago, winning 71-56 at OSU on Jan. 4, 2007 and posting a huge 82-35 victory in Los Angeles, on Feb. 2, 2007. In last year's win at Oregon State, Josh Shipp led five Bruins in double figures with 18 points. Arron Afflalo added 14 points whil Luc Richard Mbah a Moute and Darren Collison each scored 11 points against the Beavers. Lorenzo Mata-Real rounded out the top five with 10 points. Sasa Cuic and Marcel Jones each scored 13 points to lead Oregon State. UCLA head coach Ben Howland sports a 7-3 record against Oregon State.
LOVE SETS REBOUNDING MARK, AGAIN
Kevin Love grabbed a season-high 18 rebounds to go along with his 26 points in the win at Oregon (Jan. 24, 2008). The 18 boards were the most rebounds by a freshman in UCLA history (since freshmen became eligible to play varsity in 1972-73). The 18 rebounds were also the most by a Bruin since March 18, 1994, when junior Ed O'Bannon grabbed 18 in an NCAA Tournament loss to Tulsa. The last time a Bruin had more than 18 was that same year. O'Bannon had 19 on Feb. 26, 1994, in a win over Stanford at Pauley Pavilion and also had 19 on January 30, 1994, in a loss to California at the Oakland Coliseum.
SHIPP SCORES 1,000TH POINT
Josh Shipp became the 47th player in UCLA history to score 1,000 points in a career at California (Jan. 5, 2008). Shipp now has 1,051 career points.
WHAT'S WITH THE "C"?
Several Bruin teams will be wearing special jerseys or patches in 2007-08 to commemorate UCLA being the First to 100 NCAA Championships. The men's basketball team will don the new jerseys that have a different-colored "C" in UCLA. The "C" signifies the Roman numeral for 100.
