Bruins Split a Pair of Five-Game Matches at Preseason Tournament

The UCLA men's volleyball team split a pair of five-game matches on the final day of its preseason tournament at the Student Activities Center on campus.

In their morning match, the Bruins defeated UC Santa Barbara 27-30, 21-30, 30-23, 30-28, 15-12. Senior Paul George led UCLA with 19 kills (.520) and freshman Garrett Muaguttutia added 18 (.350). Jake Rosener led the Gauchos' with 19 kills, followed by Theo Brunner's 14.

On Court 2 in the morning, CS Northridge defeated UC Irvine 30-24, 30-26, 31-29. Theo Edwards led the Matadors with 13 kills, followed by nine from Mike Gaudino. Cole Reinhom led the Anteaters with 11 kills and Brandon Mel added five.

In the afternoon match, CS Northridge defeated UCLA 26-30, 30-26, 30-26, 26-30, 15-12. James Lischer led the Matadors with 20 kills and Dan Rhodes added 19. Senior Steve Kloster led UCLA with 18 kills, followed by 12 (.550) from Brett Perrine.

UC Santa Barbara beat UC Irvine 30-27, 30-24, 27-30, 30-26 on Court 2 in the afternoon. Senior Evan Patak led the Gauchos with 21 kills, followed by 13 from Bryant Berman. Matt Webber reportedly had 31 kills (.650) for UC Irvine.

The Bruins will complete their Fall schedule by hosting the Alumni on Nov. 29 at 7 p.m. in Pauley Pavilion. Admission is free.
