LOS ANGELES - The No. 9 UCLA women's tennis team posted its second straight Pac-10 shutout on Saturday, as the Bruins defeated Washington, 7-0 at the Los Angeles Tennis Center. The Bruins, who were coming off a 7-0 win against Washington State on Friday, improve to 11-4 overall and 2-0 in the Pac-10. The Huskies move to 9-5 overall and 0-4 in league play.

Although the Bruins swept all three doubles matches to claim the one point awarded for doubles play, UCLA's Tracy Lin and Riza Zalameda provided some excitement at court No. 1, fighting off two match points to eventually defeat Joyce Ardies/Tara Simpson, 9-7. Another highlight in doubles came at court No. 3, where Bruin senior Alex McGoodwin made her first appearance in a dual match in nearly a month, as she teamed with Ashley Joelson to post an 8-4 victory over Aleksandra Malovic/Vanja Radunovic.

UCLA was equally as impressive in singles, winning five of six matches in straight sets. Lin was first to finish at court No. 2, losing just three games en route to a 6-1, 6-2 victory over Malovic. Senior Elizabeth Lumpkin then brought the Bruins within a point of clinching the match, as she took a 6-3, 6-0 win over Kelsey Anonsen at court No. 6. With the win, Lumpkin improved to 15-0 on the year in dual-match play.

Joelson clinched the match for the Bruins at court No. 5, recording a 6-2, 6-1 win over Radunovic.

Andrea Remynse, Yasmin Schnack and Zalameda were also singles winners for the Bruins on Saturday. Schnack, who has been injured, made her first return to the Bruin singles lineup since Feb. 1. She lost the first set but came back to take a 6-7, 6-3, (10-2) win over Ardies. Zalameda also staged a comeback of sorts at court No. 1, as she was down 0-3 in the third set against Venise Chan before coming back to win 6-2, 2-6, 6-4.

UCLA will play one of its biggest matches of the season next week, traveling across town to take on No. 7 USC on Thursday at 1:30 p.m. That match will be at the Marks Tennis Stadium on the campus of USC.
