Women's Golf Retains First Place in Palos Verdes

Freshman Erynne Lee and junior Tiffany Lua were the Bruins' low scorers in the second round of the Regional Challenge Tuesday at the Palos Verdes Golf Club.

UCLA posted a team score of 286 (+2) for a 36-hole total of 570 (+2) and maintained a solid lead over second place USC (588, +20) heading into Wednesday's final round. Pepperdine was third at 592 (+24), followed by fourth-place Duke at 594 (+26) and Arizona State was fifth at 597 (+29).

Lee took low scoring honors for the Bruins, firing a two-under par 69 and was in second place at one-under par 141. She had a team-best five birdies on her card, including three on the outward nine.

Lua posted an even par 71 and was in third place at 142 (E). She had three birdies on her card. Sophomore Ani Gulugian also moved up the leaderboard, posting a 72 (+1) in round two for a 36-hole score of 143 (+1), good enough for a fourth place tie. Tied for ninth was junior Lee Lopez at 144 (+2) following her round of 74 (+3). Senior Brianna Do was tied for 53rd at 155 (+13) after carding a 79 (+8).

Playing as an individual was freshman Kyle Roig, who improved 14 spots on the leaderboard after posting a 70 (-1). She was tied for fourth at 143 (+1).

Duke's Lindy Duncan held the 36-hole lead at 140 (-2) following a round of 71.
