Junior swimmer Brittany Beauchan (Kailua, HI/ Punahou School) of the UCLA women's swimming and diving team was selected as the UCLA/Muscle Milk Student-Athlete of the Week for Nov. 30-Dec. 6.
Beauchan had a huge meet at the USA Short Course National Championships over the weekend, breaking two school records with big lifetime-best swims in the 100 and 200 breast. Beauchan first equaled the school record in the 100 breast with a lifetime-best swim of 1:00.45. She won the B Final with that time and was ninth overall. On the final day of competition, Beauchan placed sixth in the A Final and broke Lindsay Etter's 1998 school record in the 200 breast. Her time of 2:10.43 was an NCAA qualifier and just .12 seconds shy of the auto standard. Her swim also bettered her previous season-best by over three seconds. Beauchan was also a member of the 200 medley relay team that swam a season-best and NCAA qualifier of 1:41.13 for fourth overall and the 400 medley relay that also notched an NCAA mark and season-best time (3:40.06), placing third overall.
This is Beauchan's first UCLA/Muscle Milk Student-Athlete of the Week honor of the season and of her career.
