LOS ANGELES - The UCLA men's basketball team has earned a No. 1 seed in the NCAA Tournament and will face No. 16 seed Mississippi Valley State on Thursday, March 20, at the Honda Center in Anaheim, Calif.
Thursday's game is the second game of the late session at the Honda Center, following the BYU - Texas A&M contest. Tipoff is scheduled for approximately 6:50 pm (the BYU-Texas A&M game tips at 4:25 pm). The game will be televised by CBS and will be carried on KTLK Radio (1150 AM) with Chris Roberts and Don MacLean.
This marks UCLA's 42nd NCAA Tournament berth and the program's fourth-consecutive appearance in the NCAA Tournament. The Bruins have compiled a 94-34 (.734) all-time record in the NCAA Tournament.
Thursday's matchup against Mississippi Valley State marks the first meeting between both schools. The Bruins have played a current Southwestern Athletic Conference opponent once - the No. 24 Bruins defeated Jackson State, 93-67, on Dec. 17, 1996, in Pauley Pavilion.
The winner of Thursday's contest will play the winner of No. 8 BYU vs. No. 9 Texas A&M on Saturday, March 22 at the Honda Center at either 3:45 or 6:15 pm.
The Bruins boast a 14-2 record on the season against teams competing in this year's NCAA Tournament.
