TEMPE, Ariz. - Sophomore Thea Lemberger recorded a game-high 22 points, junior Markel Walker had her second straight double-double with 15 points and 13 rebounds and senior Rebekah Gardner added 16 points and eight boards, as the Bruins defeated Arizona State 64-48 on Saturday at the Wells Fargo Arena.

The Bruins move to 7-8 overall and 2-2 in Pac-12 play, while the Sun Devils fall to 10-4 and 1-2 in league action.

Lemberger made nine of her 12 shots from the field, including a trio of three-pointers (tied a career high), while Walker went 5-of-11 from the floor, made both of her three-pointers and all three of her free throws. Six of her 13 rebounds were on the offensive end, as she also had five assists and three steals. Junior Mariah Williams tallied six assists and three points, sophomore Corinne Costa had six points and four rebounds and sophomore Rhema Gardner notched eight boards. The Bruins shot 48% (24-50) from the field for the game, tied a season high with seven three-pointers and made 9-of-11 (81.8%) from the free throw line, the fifth straight contest they have shot better than 70% from the charity stripe.

The teams traded the first seven buckets of the ballgame, but with UCLA leading 8-6, Arizona State went on a 13-4 run over a 6:30 stretch to take a 19-12 advantage midway through the opening stanza. The Bruins responded with a 7-0 run over the next 2:30 to even the score at 19. A Lemberger layup and five consecutive points by Walker on a three and a layup tied things up.

The Sun Devils scored four of the next six to go back ahead 23-21, but another 7-0 UCLA run over a 3:30 stretch put the visitors up by five with a minute to play in the half. Lemberger again began the run with a jumper, which was followed by five in a row from Rebekah Gardner on a layup and a three-pointer to make it 28-23. Arizona State would score the final basket of the half, but UCLA took a 28-25 edge to the locker room. Lemberger paced the Bruins with eight points, Rebekah Gardner added six and Walker posted five. UCLA went 10-of-22 (45.5%) from the floor in the first half.

UCLA extended its lead with a 10-3 run in the first five minutes of the second half to take its first double-digit advantage at 38-28. Lemberger and Walker each accounted for five points during the spurt. Lemberger had a layup and a three, while Walker recorded a layup and a three-point play. ASU came back with the next four to cut its deficit to six, but a 20-6 UCLA run broke it open. Back-to-back treys by Walker and Rebekah Gardner made it 44-32. After a Sun Devil hoop, Williams converted a three-point play and a Lemberger free throw made it 48-34.

Following another ASU bucket, Rebekah Gardner had four straight points on a layup and two free throws to extend the advantage to 16 at 52-36 with 8:44 left. The Sun Devils scored again, but consecutive treys from Lemberger brought the Bruins' lead to 20 for the first time at 58-38 with 4:42 remaining. Arizona State scored eight of the next 10 to get to within 14, but that was as close as the home squad got the rest of the way. Back-to-back jumpers from Lemberger and Costa made it 64-46, as the Bruins finished with a 64-48 win. Lemberger had 14 points in the second half, Walker added 10 and Rebekah Gardner recorded five. UCLA made half of its field goals in the second half, going 12-of-24 to go along with five of seven from beyond the arc and 7-of-9 from the charity stripe.

Kali Bennett was the lone Sun Devil in double figures in points with 15.

The Bruins are back in action next Saturday, Jan. 14 when they host USC at 2 p.m. at the John Wooden Center.
