Koressel & Thompson Post Wins For Women's T&F At Aztec Invite

Turquoise Thompson and Allison Koressel were the top finishers for the women's track and field team on Saturday at the Aztec Invitational in San Diego as both women posted event wins.

Thompson won the 400m with a time of 53.13, a mark that will rank amongst the top 10 in the NCAA this season. Koressel tied for first in the pole vault with a big lifetime-best vault of 13-4.25. That mark should also be one of the top 10 in the NCAA.

Also in the 400m, Joy Eaton finished second overall with a time of 54.09. In the 800m, Ashlea McLaughlin ran a lifetime-best of 2:08.84 to finish second overall. Tamara Purpura was eighth with a season-best time of 2:12.13, while Paisley Pettway was 12th as she ran a season-best of 2:13.17.

Whitney Blue ran a lifetime-best in the 3000m as she was the top Bruin finisher in the event (10:16.47, 5th). The 4x400m team of Eaton, McLaughlin, Lindsay Rowe and Thompson ran a season-best of 3:36.72 for first-place overall.

In field event action, Ke'Nyia Richardson was the top Bruin finisher in the long jump with a third-place jump of 19-1.25. In the high jump, Mariah Gibson equaled her season-best with a jump of 5-5 (4th). Tori Anthony was sixth in the pole vault with a season-best clearance of 12-8.25. Tasha Kolbo also cleared a season-best as she was ninth with a vault of 12-00.50.

The women will continue the outdoor season at the Stanford Invitational next weekend.
