UCLA alumna Sydney Leroux came off the bench to score two second-half goals, and Lauren Cheney added an assist in a starting role as the U.S. Women's National Team defeated the Republic of Ireland, 5-0, on Wednesday night in Portland.

Leroux followed an Alex Morgan hat trick in the first half with two goals of her own in the second. Leroux scored her first in the 62nd minute on a header from six yards back and then added a second in the 81st minute after a nice combination of passes between her, Cheney and Amy Rodriguez. After Rodriguez got the ball to Leroux deep on the left side of the penalty area, Leroux sent a hard shot at Ireland goalkeeper Emma Byrne that went into the net.

The two goals gave Leroux 12 in 2012, all of the bench, extending her U.S. record for most goals as a reserve in a calendar year.

Cheney played the full 90 minutes for the U.S. and assisted on Morgan's second goal in the 34th minute. On the assist, Cheney worked her way through two defenders to turn and face the goal, then played a short pass back to Morgan at the top of the six-yard box. Morgan scored left-footed into the lower left corner.

Former UCLA head coach Jillian Ellis served as interim head coach for the U.S., which is now 4-0-2 on the Fan Tribute Tour. The U.S. and Ireland will meet again on Saturday, Dec. 1 at the University of Phoenix Stadium in Glendale, Ariz. The match will be televised live on FOX Soccer at 6pm PT.
