The No. 2/No. 3 (Golfweek/Golfstat) ranked UCLA women's golf team battled through cold conditions once again and earned a third place finish at the Battle at Rancho Bernardo Inn.
The Bruins recorded a final round score of 290 (+2) to give them an overall score of 887 (+23). They lost by eight strokes to winners Purdue, who posted a tournament score of 879 (+15). USC took home second place with a total of 886 (+22), while Georgia and Auburn rounded out the top five with scores of 903 (+39) and 905 (+41) respectively.
Individually, junior Stephanie Kono posted a 71 (-1) to finish tied for 8th at 220 (+4). She now leads the team with four top-10 finishes and ten rounds under par on the year. Sophomore Tiffany Lua shot a 74 (+2) for her final round to give her a tournament score of 223 (+7), good for a tie for 13th place. Senior Glory Yang recorded a final round 72 (E) after birdying her final hole to finish at 224 (+8), putting her in a tie for 16th. Freshman Ani Gulugian recorded a 73 (+1) to end up tied for 20th at 225 (+9) while sophomore Lee Lopez tied for 23rd at 226 (+10) after putting up a final round 75 (+3). Finally, junior Brianna Do competed as an individual and posted a final round 73 (+1), giving her an overall score of 228 (+12) and putting her in a tie for 31st.
Laura Gonzalez of Purdue was the winner of the tournament with an overall score of 209 (-7).
The Bruins will be back on the course from April 1st to April 3rd for the PING/ASU Invitational in Tempe, AZ.
