Three UCLA golfers will participate in the 36-hole Wave Invitational hosted by Pepperdine at the Moorpark Country Club beginning Mar. 3 at 8 a.m.
Seniors Tiffany Joh and Maiya Tanaka and freshman Brianna Do will represent UCLA as individuals and battle for medalist honors. Do will tee off the first tee at 8:50 a.m. and Joh and Tanaka will follow at 9 a.m.
Ranked 18th nationally, Joh enters this event as the top-ranked player in the field. She has posted five Top 20 results in five starts. A three-time All-American, she has won a pair of U.S. Women's Amateur Publinks Championships during her college career (2006 and 2008).
Tanaka tied for 24th in her only start this season -- the stroke play competition of the Collegiate Match Play Championship. In her career, she has recorded four Top 20 finishes in 14 starts, including a tie for 10th place at the 2008 NCAA Central Regional.
In her only collegiate start, Do tied for 48th playing as an individual at the Stanford Intercollegiate in October. In three rounds, she has a scoring average of 73.6.
The participating teams are host Pepperdine, BYU, Cal State Northridge, Long Beach State, New Mexico State and Nevada-Las Vegas.
