Jan. 26, 2012

The UCLA swimming and diving team will play host to Pac-12 foes Stanford and Cal this weekend in the Spieker Aquatics Center as the Bruins face the Cardinal on Friday at 1:00 and the Bears on Saturday at noon.

Stanford is 6-1 on the season with their only loss coming to Florida State, while the Bears are undefeated with a 5-0 record. All of Cal's wins have come against Pac-12 teams. The Bruins are 4-2 on the season and 2-2 in the Pac-12.

Last season, Stanford defeated the Bruins 169-131, while Cal won by a score of 168.5-131.5.

The Bruins have been off from competition since the weekend of January 13-15, when the divers competed at the Stanford Invite and the swimmers faced off with Utah and Oregon State in Corvallis, OR. Freshman Emma Ivory-Ganja, the December Pac-12 Diver of the Month, highlighted the divers in Palo Alto with a win on platform. The swimmers were led by sophomore junior Laurence Delisle and senior Yasi Jahanshahi as both posted double event wins in Corvallis.

Jahanshahi currently ranks seventh in the nation in the 200 fly with a time of 1:55.84 and 29th in the 100 fly (53.58). The 200 free relay ranks 24th (1:32.04), the 400 free relay is 14th (3:19.54) and the 800 free relay is 15th (7:15.99). Ivory-Ganja and Paulina Guzman have qualified for the NCAA Zone E Diving Championships.
