Four UCLA Rowers Secure CRCA National Recognition

LOS ANGELES - Sophomore Britta Syverson earned first-team CRCA All-West Region accolades, and senior Alaizah Koorji, sophomore Emily McLaughlin and freshman Tanya Smith each captured CRCA Scholar-Athlete honors.

Syverson was named a CRCA All-West Region selection for the second time in as many years. This season, she earned first-team honors after having earned second-team recognition in 2010. As a sophomore this spring, Syverson stroke the varsity eight crew.

Koorji captured CRCA National Scholar-Athlete honors for the third consecutive season. McLaughlin and Smith were selected as National Scholar-Athlete honorees for the first time in their respective careers.

Koorji served as a four-year coxswain for UCLA in the varsity eight crew. McLaughlin rowed in the second varsity eight at Pac-10 Championships as a sophomore this season, and Smith competed in the varsity four crew for the Bruins at Pac-10 Championships as a freshman.
