Walnut Creek, Calif. - UCLA's Yasmin Schnack was named the Pac-10 Women's Tennis Player of the Week on Monday after helping the Bruins to wins over Pepperdine, No. 15 Fresno State and Cal State Fullerton last week.
Schnack, a junior from Sacramento, Calif., enjoyed her best performance during the Bruins' 6-1 victory over Fresno State last Thursday. In doubles, she and teammate Anrea Remynse upset the nation's top-ranked tandem of Renata Kucerkova/Anastasia Petukhova, 8-4 at the No. 1 position. She then downed 17th-ranked Melanie Gloria, 6-0, 6-3 at the No. 1 singles spot.
Schnack, who is ranked No. 6 in doubles (w/Remynse) and No. 37 in singles, also won both her singles and doubles matches last week in wins over Pepperdine and Cal State Fullerton.
This is the first Pac-10 weekly honor for Schnack.
