WOODLAND, Calif. - UCLA senior goalkeeper Brittany Fullen has earned MPSF Mikasa Player of the Week honors after having totaled 30 saves in both Bruin victories last week. The native of San Clemente, Calif., totaled 12 saves in a 14-7 victory against No. 5 San Diego State on Friday and eclipsed that total the following afternoon with 18 stops in a 14-7 win over No. 9 Loyola Marymount.
Fullen has totaled 75 saves in nine matches, starting each contest in the cage for UCLA, and is averaging 8.33 saves per game this season (third-best among MPSF goalkeepers). Fullen has recorded three performances with 12 or more saves in 2009.
UCLA's victory over San Diego State marked the MPSF-opening contest for both teams.
The No. 4 Bruins (7-2, 1-0 MPSF) return to action against No. 3 Hawai'i (6-3, 0-2 MPSF) on Thursday, Feb. 19. Game time at UCLA's Sunset Canyon Recreation Center is slated for 3 p.m. UCLA dropped a 13-12 decision to Hawai'i on day one of the Stanford Invitational (Feb. 7).
