STANFORD, Calif. - The UCLA baseball team dropped its series finale at Stanford, 7-2, Saturday afternoon at Klein Field at Sunken Diamond. Right-hander Charles Brewer (1-4) absorbed the loss, despite surrendering just three runs and six hits in six innings. Brewer logged three strikeouts and did not issue any walks.

Stanford left-hander Brett Mooneyham (3-1) earned the victory, limiting the visiting Bruins (13-19, 6-6 Pac-10) to two runs and four hits. He recorded 10 strikeouts for the second time this season and walked four batters. Stanford right-hander Drew Storen notched his fourth save of the spring, allowing one hit and tallying two strikeouts in three innings of scoreless relief.

Stanford earned the Pac-10 series victory, winning by a 4-3 margin in 10 innings on Thursday before knocking off the Bruins, 7-2, on Saturday afternoon.

UCLA was led at the plate by catcher Gino Aielli's 2-for-4 effort, and center fielder Blair Dunlap went 1-for-3 with a two-run homer. Stanford first baseman Brent Milleville led the Cardinal (13-13, 7-5 Pac-10), going 3-for-4 with two home runs and three RBI. Right fielder Kellen Kiilsgaard went 2-for-4 with two runs and one RBI.

In a hotly-contested pitcher's duel through the first six innings, UCLA's Brewer and Stanford's Mooneyham worked quickly and shut down the opposing team's offense. Stanford got on the board with a two-run homer by Milleville in the second inning. Dunlap answered for the Bruins with a two-run round-tripper to left in the third.

In the bottom of the sixth, Kiilsgaard belted a solo homer to right field off Brewer to snap the 2-2 deadlock. The Cardinal pushed their advantage to 7-2 with a three-run seventh inning and a one-run eighth. Stanford took advantage of two singles up the middle and a double to left-center field in the seventh to score three runs off UCLA's bullpen.

The Bruins return to action at No. 18 San Diego State on Tuesday, April 14. Game time at Tony Gwynn Stadium is slated for 6 p.m.

Game Notes: UCLA starting pitcher Charles Brewer has not allowed more than three earned runs in any of his starts this spring...Gino Aielli recorded his fourth multiple-hit game of the season, pushing his batting average to a team-leading .333 mark...UCLA has played 21 of its first 32 games away from home...the Bruins will spend their next two weekends hosting three-game Pac-10 series (vs. Washington, vs. Oregon State) after playing at San Diego State next Tuesday evening.
