Justin Medlock and Justin Hickman Earn More Honors

Dec. 12, 2006

UCLA place kicker Justin Medlock and defensive end Justin Hickman were selected to two more All-America teams today.

Medlock was named a first-team All-American by Associated Press while Hickman was named to the second team. Both were selected first-team All-America by The Sporting News.

Medlock has made 26 of 30 field goals (he had a string of 14 straight halted at Notre Dame) and all 26 PATs for a team-high 104 points. He ranks first nationally in field goals (2.17 per game) and 12th in the NCAA and first in the Pac-10 in scoring (8.67). His 104 points are a career high and rank No. 8 (tied) on UCLA's single-season scoring list and his 26 field goals are the second-most in school history.

Medlock is second on UCLA's career field goal list with 68 and second on the career scoring list with 348 points.

Hickman is second nationally (tied with Davis) with 1.04 sacks per game (12.5 total) and 10th in tackles for loss (1.54 - 18.5 total). He ranks first in the Pac-10 in both sacks and tackles for losses. Twice this season, he has recorded three solo sacks in a game (Notre Dame, Rice). On the year, he has made 40 total tackles (29 solos) and leads the Bruins in sacks (tied at 12.5) and tackles for loss (18.5).

Hickman ranks third (tied) on UCLA's single-season sack list (the record is 16.5 by Dave Ball in 2003) and sixth on the single-season tackles for loss list. He is ninth on the career sack list and 17th on the career tackles for loss list.

Medlock has also been named first-team All-America by American Football Coaches Association, the Football Writers Association of America and Scout.com. Hickman has been named to the first teams of the FWAA and the Walter Camp Football Foundation.

Defensive end Bruce Davis was named a first-team All-American by SI.com, giving the Bruins three players who have made at least one All-America first team.
