Dixon Named to Wade Trophy Watch List

UCLA senior forward Jasmine Dixon has been named one of 25 members of the pre-season Wade Trophy Watch List.The Wade Trophy is presented annually to the NCAA Division I Player of the Year by the National Association of Girls and Women in Sport (NAGWS) and the Women's Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA).

Dixon was named an honorable mention Associated Press All-American following the 2010-11 season after helping lead the Bruins to a 28-5 record and a second-place finish in the Pac-10 conference. She was a first-team All-Pac-10 Conference selection and an honorable mention pick to the all-conference defensive team. In addition, Dixon was listed among The Wooden Award Midseason Top 20 and Naismith Trophy Midseason Top 30. She ranked second on the Bruin team in scoring and led the squad in rebounding (7.3 avg. was eighth in the Pac-10) and steals (74). She ranked 17th in the league in scoring (12.1), fourth in field goal percentage (.554), third in steals average (2.4), fourth in offensive rebounding (3.4) and 14th in defensive rebounding (3.9).

Now in its 35th year, the State Farm Wade Trophy is named after the late, legendary three-time national champion Delta State University coach, Lily Margaret Wade. The prestigious award is regarded as The Heisman of Women's Basketball.

The preseason list is composed of top NCAA Division I student-athletes who best embody Wade's spirit. A committee of coaches, administrators and media from across the United States compiled the list using the following criteria: game and season statistics, leadership, character, effect on their team and overall playing ability.

The 2012 State Farm Wade Trophy winner will be announced during the WBCA National Convention, which will be held in conjunction with the 2012 NCAA® Women's Final Four® in Denver.
