The top-ranked UCLA women's golf team took the first round lead at the 23rd Pac-10 Women's Golf Championship, presented by Duramed at the Stanford Golf Course.
The Bruins posted a first-round score of 291 (+7) and led defending conference champion USC by one stroke. Arizona State was third at 293 (+9), followed by Arizona and California in a tie for fourth at 298 (+14).
Individually for the Bruins, sophomore Maria Jose Uribe was in third place after posting an opening round score of 71 (E). Freshman Stephanie Kono was tied for fourth place at one-over par 72 and senior Tiffany Joh was tied for ninth with a 73 (+2). Sophomore Glory Yang posted a 75 (+4) and was tied for 21st and junior Sydnee Michaels was tied for 33rd after posting a 78 (+7).
Carlota Cignada of ASU and Jennifer Song of USC were tied for first place following rounds of 70 (-1) on Friday.
