UCLA Increases Its Lead to Nine Shots at Stanford

The fourth-ranked UCLA women's golf team increased its lead to nine shots on Saturday at the inaugural Pac-10/SEC Challenge at the Stanford Golf Course in Palo Alto.

The Bruins posted the best team score of the day -- a three-under par 281 -- and boasted a two-round team score of 566 (-2) heading into Sunday's final round. Auburn and Alabama were tied for second place at seven-over par 575. Arizona was fourth at 578 (+10) and Cal was fifth at 581 (+13).

Junior All-American Stephanie Kono led the way for the Bruins, firing a four-under par 67 for a 36-hole total of 140 (-2). She made five birdies and a bogey on the day and was three-under par on the outward nine.

Senior Glory Yang was also tied for fifth place after she posted an even par 71.

Freshman Ani Gulugian posted a score of 69 (-2) and was tied for ninth place at 141 (-1). She jumped 13 spots up the leader board after making three birdies and a bogey on the back nine.

Sophomore Tiffany Lua and junior Brianna Do each posted scores of 75 (+3). Lua was tied for 20th at three-over par 145 and Do was tied for 35th at 148 (+6).

Vanderbilt's Marina Alex claimed the 36-hole lead at six-under par 136 after posting a two-under par 70 on Saturday.
