Woepse Jumps No. 5 Pole Vault Mark in NCAA

Mike Woepse highlighted the men's track and field team on Saturday in Nampa, ID as he cleared the No. 5 mark in the NCAA this season in the pole vault at the Bronco Classic.

Woepse equaled his lifetime-best jump of 17-8.50 on Saturday to easily win the event as his nearest competitor was eight inches below him. He came into the meet ranked 12th in the NCAA with a mark of 17-6.50.

Also on Saturday, junior Dillon Stucky was the top collegiate finisher in the triple jump as he equaled his lifetime-best of 49-11. He finished second to 2011 graduate Jonathan Clark, who won with a mark of 52-8.25.

In the high jump, senior Taylor Hobson placed second as he cleared a season-best 6-8.25.

In running events, junior Maxwell Dyce was the top finisher in the 200m as he ran 21.57. Senior Karlton Roll was fourth (21.93) and sophomore R.J. Frasier was fifth (22.00).

Newcomers Pete Lauderdale (4th, 49.23) and Sean Burd (11th, 51.01) both ran season-bests in the 400m.

Sophomore Philip MacQuitty was eighth in the 800m (1:57.20) and seventh in the mile (4:15.79).

The 4x400m relay team of Frasier, Burd, Dyce and Rolle placed third with a season-best time of 3:16.84.

Up next, the men's team will split for two competitions as some athletes head to Seattle for the Husky Classic and others head to Albuquerque for the New Mexico Team Invitational.
