Two former and one current UCLA golfers have qualified for the 111th U.S. Open to be played at Congressional Country Club, June 13-19 near Washington, DC.

In Sectional Qualifying that ended on June 6, Brandt Jobe (UCLA '88), freshman Patrick Cantlay and former Bruin Kevin Chappell each qualified out of the Columbus, OH site.

Jobe, a 23-year professional who led the Bruins to the 1988 NCAA title, tied for first with scores of 62-70--132 (-12). Cantlay, 19, tied for fourth with scores of 65-70--135 (-9) and Chappell, the 2008 Nicklaus Award winner who helped the Bruins to the 2008 national championship, tied for eighth with scores of 68-68--136 (-8). All players played at the Brookside Golf and Country Club.

Cantlay, who advanced to the semifinals of the 2010 U.S. Amateur Championship, enjoyed a sensational freshman campaign at UCLA. He was selected Pac-10 Freshman and Player of the Year, National Freshman of the Year and the Nicklaus Award winner, given to the nation's top player. He was also one of just 10 amateurs worldwide to advance to the U.S. Open through Sectional Qualifying.
