WOODLAND, Calif. - Senior Tanya Gandy of the UCLA women's water polo team has earned MPSF Co-Player of the Week accolades, as announced Monday by the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation (MPSF). Gandy scored a team-leading nine goals in three wins at the Michigan Invitational on Jan. 24-25.
Gandy's effort helped lead UCLA to a perfect 3-0 record to open the season. The senior from San Diego, Calif., recorded three goals in each victory. Gandy shares the weekly honor with Arizona State's Addison McGrath.
UCLA blanked Bucknell, 17-0, in both teams' season-opening contests on Saturday, Jan. 24. Later that afternoon, the Bruins edged Indiana, 10-3, at Michigan's Canham Natatorium. UCLA defeated No. 10 Michigan, 10-4, on Sunday, Jan. 25.
The No. 3 UCLA women's water polo team returns to action at No. 15 Long Beach State on Thursday, Feb. 5. Game time at Long Beach State is slated for 7 p.m.
