Los Angeles, Calif. - The UCLA men's soccer team has earned the preseason No. 2 ranking by the NSCAA, as announced by the organization today. Returning are two-time NSCAA All-West Region honoree Matt Wiet, 2011 All-Pac-12 honoree Ryan Hollingshead, and senior Fernando Monge (starter in 22 of 24 matches in 2011). Junior defenders Joe Sofia (started all 24 matches in 2011) and Patrick Matchett (0 g, 7 a) return as well while juniors Victor Munoz (1 g, 8 a) and Victor Chavez (2010 Pac-12 leading goal scorer) will look to earn increased roles in 2012. Sophomore Earl Edwards will look to take over in goal for departed All-American Brian Rowe as well.

UCLA will kick off the 2012 season at home against sixth-ranked New Mexico on Fri., Aug. 24 at 7 pm out at Drake Stadium. The game will be televised live on the Pac-12 Networks.
