On Monday, the UCLA men's golf team grabbed the No. 2 seed in the NCAA West Regional, scheduled for May 17-19 at Arizona State's Karsten Golf Course in Tempe, Ariz.

The fourth-ranked Bruins, winners of five events this season, are seeded behind Stanford, but ahead of Nevada-Las Vegas and conference champion USC in a regional that features nine automatic qualifiers and eight Pac-10 teams. Other Southern California teams selected to the West site are Big West Conference champion UC Irvine, West Coast Conference winner Pepperdine, and San Diego State.

Nearing the end of his fifth season, Vincent has guided the Bruins to five regional appearances with two victories plus a tie for fourth in 2005. The regional championships captured by the Bruins in 2003 and '04 are the only regional titles won in UCLA history. In addition, Kevin Chappell won last year's individual regional crown at Lake Nona in Florida, giving UCLA its second regional medalist. Travis Johnson tied for the title in 2004.

The top 10 teams from each regional tournament will advance to the NCAA Men's Golf Championship, hosted by Virginia Commonwealth University, May 30-June 2 at Golden Horseshoe GC in Williamsburg, VA.
