PALO ALTO, Calif. - Senior Jillian Kraus scored a team-leading four goals to lead the No. 1 UCLA women's water polo team past No. 4 Hawai'i, 15-10, Saturday evening in both teams' second game of the day at the Stanford Invitational.
Senior Brittany Rowe, who led the Bruins with four goals in their 16-0 win over Michigan earlier in the afternoon, added three goals against the Rainbow Wahine at Stanford's Avery Aquatic Center.
Junior Katie Rulon registered three goals, bringing her season total to a team-high 21 goals through eight matches. Senior Courtney Mathewson scored twice, as the Bruins also received one goal each from senior Gabrielle Domanic, junior Tanya Gandy and freshman Camy Sullivan.
In the Bruins' closest contest of the year, UCLA (8-0) led 3-1 after the first quarter and owned a narrow 6-5 advantage at halftime. UCLA outscored Hawai'i in each of the final two quarters - 6-4 in the third frame and 3-1 in the final period.
Junior Kelly Mason led Hawai'i (4-1) with four goals.
UCLA junior goalkeeper Brittany Fullen totaled three saves. Hawai'i freshman Serena Bredin totaled seven stops in the cage.
The top-ranked Bruins return to action at the Stanford Invitational against No. 7 San Jose State on Sunday, Feb. 10, at 9:10 a.m. Later in the day, UCLA will play either USC, Stanford or California.
