UCLA's top-ranked women's golf team returns to Tennessee Friday for the second SEC/Pac-12 Challenge, hosted by the University of Tennessee at Holston Hills GC in Knoxville.
The Bruins won the inaugural event last season by 11 shots at the Stanford Golf Course. That triumph triggered four more tournament victories during the season, including the NCAA title in Texas.
This year's field includes all 12 SEC teams and 11 Pac-12 clubs. Seven of the teams in the field were ranked this week in the Top 10 of GolfWeek's poll, including No. 1 UCLA, No. 3 LSU, No. 4 Vanderbilt, fifth-ranked USC and No. 6 Alabama.
To begin the season, the Bruins have won their first two starts -- the Fall Preview at Vanderbilt's Legends Course in September and the Stanford Intercollegiate last weekend.
The Bruins' lineup has changed slightly from their first two events. Senior Stephanie Kono will replace freshman Kyle Roig and play in the No. 1 spot. Kono, playing as an individual last weekend at Stanford, placed second at 11-under par 202 with three straight rounds under 70. Completing the fivesome are Lua, Lopez, sophomore Ani Gulugian and freshman Erynne Lee.
Holston Hills GC will play to a par of 72 over 6,447 yards.
