LOS ANGELES - Junior Priscilla Orozco scored a game-high four goals for the second straight game, leading the No. 4 UCLA women's water polo team past No. 6 Arizona State, 13-6, in an MPSF match at Spieker Aquatics Center on Saturday afternoon.
The Bruins (14-5, 2-1 MPSF) also received a season-high three goals from freshman Emily Greenwood in their second conference victory of the season. Junior Megan Burmeister and freshman Brooke Martin each scored two goals. Sophomore KK Clark and freshman Heather Van Hiel registered one goal.
Arizona State (11-6, 0-1 MPSF) was led by two goals from Kelsey White.
UCLA led 4-1 after the first quarter and added three more goals in the second period to lead by a 7-2 margin at halftime. Arizona State answered with four unanswered goals to open the third quarter, cutting UCLA's advantage to 7-6. The Bruins scored two goals in the final minutes of the third period to lead 9-6 headed into the final quarter.
In the fourth period, UCLA outscored the visiting Sun Devils, 4-0, to secure a 13-6 victory.
UCLA sophomore goalkeeper Caitlin Dement registered 13 saves in the cage. Arizona State goalkeeper Amanda Young made five stops, and teammate Dana Harvey had one save.
The Bruins return to action against No. 2 Stanford in a home MPSF contest on Saturday, March 27. Game time at the UCLA's Spieker Aquatics Center is slated for 1 p.m.
