The UCLA Women's Water Polo team defeated top-ranked USC 11-10 to win the Stanford Invitational Tournament this weekend. The two-time defending NCAA champions have started the year undefeated by winning all four games of the tournament.

In the championship match, the second-ranked Bruins fell behind 2-1 after the first quarter, but then tied the game up 4-4 by halftime. The top-ranked Trojans had a two-goal lead going into the fourth quarter, but the Bruins stormed back with five goals in the last quarter to win the game. Jillian Kraus led the Bruins with three goals in the game. Katie Rulon, Courtney Mathewson, and Kelly Rulon all chipped in two goals apiece. Anne Belden and Kacy Kunkel each scored as well.

Earlier in the day, the Bruins finished bracket play by defeating Indiana 10-3 to advance to the championship of the tournament. The team jumped out to a quick 7-0 lead in the first quarter to quickly put the game out of reach. Kelly Rulon led the team with two goals, and freshman Melissa Mordell scored the first goal of her collegiate career.

The team's next game will be on Friday, February 16th at California. The Bruins beat California 10-2 on the first day of the Stanford Invitational.
