LOS ANGELES - The UCLA baseball team earned its first Pac-10 series sweep of the season with a 6-3 victory over Washington on Sunday in the final contest of a three-game set at Steele Field at Jackie Robinson Stadium. First baseman Cody Decker and second baseman Eddie Murray each recorded two hits, and center fielder Blair Dunlap went 1-for-4 with a three-run homer for the Bruins.

UCLA (17-19, 9-6 Pac-10) won for the seventh time in their last nine games.

Right-hander Charles Brewer limited Washington (14-22, 4-8 Pac-10) to two runs (one earned) and seven hits in 6.1 innings, recording eight strikeouts and no walks in a no-decision. Left-hander Rob Rasmussen (3-2) picked up the victory in relief, allowing one run and three hits in 1.1 innings. Left-hander Gavin Brooks notched his team-leading fifth save, recording UCLA's final four outs without giving up any hits.

Washington right-hander Andrew Kittredge (1-3) absorbed the loss, surrendering four runs and five hits in 6.1 innings. The freshman from Spokane, Wash., registered five strikeouts and one walk and hit three batters.

The Huskies were led at the plate by third baseman Justin Gunn, who went 2-for-4 with one run. Catcher Brett Wilcox and first baseman Troy Scott each went 1-for-4 with one RBI for Washington.

UCLA scored one run on a sacrifice fly by Decker in the second inning to lead 1-0.

Washington answered with one run in the top of the fourth. After opening the frame with consecutive base-hits, Wilcox lined a two-out single into center field to score second baseman Doug Cherry.

The Bruins claimed a 2-1 advantage in the sixth on a run-scoring double-play groundout by catcher Gino Aielli. The Huskies responded in the top of the seventh inning with a triple to right field by center fielder Caleb Brown, who later scored on a pass ball.

UCLA scored four runs in the bottom of the seventh to lead 6-2. Shortstop Niko Gallego initiated the Bruins' rally with a double to the warning track in right field. Murray followed with a run-scoring single to center and took second base on an errant throw to the infield. After right fielder Justin Uribe drew a walk, Dunlap connected for his second home run in as many days, clearing the bases to hand UCLA a 6-2 cushion.

Washington added one run in the top of the eighth inning, as Scott belted his fourth home run of the season - a solo shot to left-center field - trimming the Bruins' margin to 6-3.

UCLA returns to action at UC Riverside on Tuesday, April 21. Game time at Riverside Sports Complex is 6 p.m.
