Mustafa Abdul-Hamid went down in practice (Dec. 6) with a stress reaction in his right foot. He returned to practice on Dec. 31, but has missed the last five games.

James Keefe practiced for the first time with contact this year on Dec. 4 after having surgery on Aug. 10 to repair a torn labrum in his left shoulder. He is slated to redshirt this year.

Michael Roll reruptured his plantar fascia in his left foot on Dec. 31 and will be out for the next three weeks.

NATIONAL POLLS
UCLA sports a national ranking of No. 5 in both the ESPN/USA Today Coaches Poll and Associated Press poll. Stanford is ranked No. 24 in the AP poll and No. 20 in the Coaches poll.

SERIES VS. STANFORD
This is the 217th meeting between UCLA and Stanford with the Bruins leading the series 127-89. While the Bruins have won three of the last four meetings, Stanford is 10-6 against UCLA since 2000. Last year, the teams split their matchups, with each team winning on its home floor. Stanford erased a 17-point first half deficit to win 75-68 at home on Jan. 28, 2007. Lawrence Hill and Arron Afflalo tied for game-high honors with 22 points.

UCLA IN PACIFIC-10 CONFERENCE OPENERS
UCLA is 19-10 (.655) in Pacific-10 Conference openers (since 1978-79). UCLA is 25-4 (.862) all-time in Pac-10 home openers and 15-14 (.517) in Pac-10 road openers. Only twice in its history has UCLA opened up Pac-10 play with Stanford, winning the 2006 opener 71-54 in Los Angeles and losing the 1979 opener (first year as Pacific-10 Conference) at Stanford 75-72.

WHAT'S WITH THE "C"?
Several Bruin teams will be wearing special jerseys or patches in 2007-08 to commemorate UCLA being the First to 100 NCAA Championships. The men's basketball team will don the new jerseys that have a different-colored "C" in UCLA. The "C" signifies the Roman numeral for 100.
