Led by Pac-12 Player of the Year Zakiya Bywaters, the UCLA women's soccer team placed a conference-best eight players on the 2012 All-Pac-12 teams. Bywaters, Sarah Killion and Abby Dahlkemper earned first-team honors. Lucretia Lee, Samantha Mewis and Katelyn Rowland received second-team acclaim, and Jenna Richmond and Caprice Dydasco were honorable mention selections. Additionally, Taylor Smith was selected to the All-Freshman team.

UCLA's eight selections tie a school record for most all-conference honors in one season. The 2001 Bruins also accomplished this feat.

Bywaters, a senior forward from Las Vegas, Nev., is the sixth Bruin to be named the Pac-12 Player of the Year. She closed out the 2012 regular season as the Pac-12 leader in points (30), goals (13) and game-winning goals (13), totals that are career-highs. Bywaters was named to the MAC Hermann Trophy Watch List and has twice been honored as the Pac-12 Offensive Player of the Week, as well as being named Soccer America's National Player of the Week in mid-September. This is her second consecutive first-team All-Pac-12 honor and third overall in her career. She was also named to the Pac-10 All-Freshman team in 2009. Bywaters has started 84 of 88 games for the Bruins, tallying 63 career points (21 goals, 21 assists).

Killion, a sophomore midfielder from Fort Wayne, Ind., picks up her first career honor from the Pac-12 despite missing the first six games of the season while leading the U.S. to a gold medal at the FIFA U-20 World Cup. Killion ranks fourth on the team in scoring with 10 points (3g, 4a) and has two game-winning goals.

Dahlkemper, a sophomore defender from Menlo Park, Calif., earned her second consecutive first-team All-Pac-12 honor. The MAC Hermann Trophy Watch List honoree has been the leader of a defensive unit that has posted a Pac-12 best 0.56 goals against average with a league-high 11 shutouts. She has twice been named the Pac-12 Defensive Player of the Week and has also contributed three goals and three assists.

Second-team honoree Lee, a senior defender from Bothell, Wash., earned her first career All-Pac-12 award after helping to lead the Bruin defense to a conference-low 0.56 goals against average. She was named the Pac-12 Defensive Player of the Week for Oct. 15-21 after scoring her first career goal this season and leading UCLA to a pair of wins during which the Bruin defense held their opponents to a total of six shots. Lee leads the Bruins in minutes played with 1720 out of a possible 1760 minutes.

Mewis, a sophomore midfielder, is a second-team selection for the second-straight year. A member of the gold medal-winning U.S. squad at the FIFA U-20 World Cup along with Killion, Mewis missed the season's first six games but has totaled two goals and three assists in 12 games played.

Rowland, a sophomore goalkeeper, earned her first career All-Pac-12 honors, being selected to the second team. Rowland leads the Pac-12 with a nine shutouts and ranks second with a 0.58 goals against average.

The Bruins' honorable mention selections are midfielder Richmond and defender Dydasco. Richmond, who earns her second career selection, leads the Bruins and ranks second in the Pac-12 in assists with seven. Dydasco, who has started every game, has contributed four assists and helped the Bruin defense earn 11 shutouts.

Smith is the sole representative on the All-Freshman team. The forward ranks second on the team in scoring with 18 points (7g, 4a) and ranks 10th in the conference in points and goals.
