UCLA's Matt Wiet Named Preseason All-American

Los Angeles, Calif. - UCLA senior defender Matt Wiet has been named as a preseason All-American by College Soccer News, as announced by the publication today.

Wiet, who hails from Columbus, Ohio, was a two-time NSCAA All-Far West selection in 2010 and 2011 and anchored a defense that tied a school record with eight consecutive shutouts a year ago. Wiet also was a second-team All-Pac-12 honoree in 2011 and has started every match for the Bruins the past two seasons.

The second-ranked Bruins open their season on Friday, Aug. 24 at home against No. 6 New Mexico in the first live UCLA event televised by the Pac-12 Networks. Fans can get their tickets to the match here.
